The Parkside Post
Disney raised standard ears to $38.99. Here is what that does
The park price went up two dollars, which sounds like nothing. It moves the resale math more than you would think.
Standard Disney ear headbands went from $36.99 to $38.99. That is a two dollar change, and on its own it is not interesting. What is interesting is what it does to the gap between buying in the parks and buying secondhand.
The numbers, as reported
Disney Store raised the online price on standard ear headbands to $38.99, reported by WDWNT at the end of September 2026. Minnie ear headbands and the standard character ears all sit in that band. BaubleBar's Disney exclusives are a separate and higher tier at $49.99.
Why two dollars matters
Resale ears in good condition used to sit comfortably ten to fifteen dollars under the park price, which was enough to be worth someone's while. Every increase at the register pushes that floor up, because the seller's alternative is now more expensive too. The secondhand price does not move the same day, but it drifts.
Where it does not apply
Retired designs are their own market and the park price is irrelevant to them. A sold-out 50th Anniversary piece does not care what a current standard ear costs today. The park price only sets the floor for ears that are still on the shelf.
What we would not do
We would not price a used standard ear near the retail price just because retail went up. The buyer can walk into a park or open Disney Store and get a new one for $38.99, with the packaging and the return policy. A used pair has to be meaningfully cheaper, or it does not sell.
If you are buying right now
If you want a specific design, buy it while it is still on the shelf. The pattern in this hobby is consistent: the pieces people wait on are the ones that then cost double, and the park price rises do not go backwards.
